Ankara

We flew from Gotheburg via Istanbul to Ankara . after delay or two arrived in Ankara 02:30 in the morning. Tanner and his brother met us -- and so began a extremely enriching few days together with the Turans .. opening our eyes to the wonder of Turkey

This was at Gothenburg airport just before we were to leave for Istanbul.

This was the view from Semma and Tanners balcony upon arriving early in the morning.

A walk down town first morning to the eye surgeon that was to examine Mireilles eyes for a possible operation (so she wouldn't need the glasses she has needed since she was 5!)

A picture of this renouned eye surgeon .. (a friend of Semmas!)

A good part of our time in Turkey was spent around a wide variety of tables with an amazing amount of food  ...   much of it we had never eaten before.

This was the wonderful family that opened up their home and lives for us for the duration of our time in this part of Turkey

This our group that explored Ankara ... traveled to Cappadocia together .. and then traveled to the country farming village where Semmas parents have chosen to retire.

A beautiful evening in a beautiful top floor restaurant within walking distance from the Turan home,

This is the hospital where Semma works as a heart/lung tranplantatión surgeon.  She took us here for a full health checkup ...  After my checkup it seems the end wasn't in sight as yet!!

This is a picture in Semmas office of a doctor college and the ladies.

After our health checkup ... we had to renew our strength again at a cute little street cafe!!!

An impressive visit to the Ataturk museum/mosaleum.  Ataturk is the founder of the Republic of Turkey and  everywhere you go, quite obviously   a great hero in Turkeys modern history.

Changing of the guard  at the Ataturk museum.

Birsen sitting beside on the lions on the street of lions ... signifiying the many social principles that Ataturk built into the Turkish society. (Womens equality, social justice, furtherance of science etc.)

Sitting on the stairs looking out over the main square of the Ataturk memorial. The buildings around the edge are museum exibits.

This is from the museum of the war of independence  -- Note the enemy nations ... this was after the first world war.

This is one of five gates to the city of Ankara .. a most beautiful and well functioning city of 5 million plus!!

Semma and Tanner are in the process of building a beautiful new home in one of Ankaras suberbs ....  It is under construction but it was easy to see what a wonderful home it will be.

A lovely evening with relatives ... Semmas sister at the bottom right and her husband bottom left.

More relatives and their family. Semmas sister in the middle back.

The whole group of us after a lovely Turkish  'sing along' and evening

Demir in front of his school just across the street from were they live now.

The same school as Deniz goes to.

This is the Turans present home .. a lovely apartment on the top floor of this building not far from the center of Ankara.
