'
We returned to Ankara today. A 10 hour car trip across amazing, seemingly flourishing landscapes including nearly everything possible. Beautiful farming communities, industrial centers, multi thousand year historical places, amazing nature scenery in some places, baren wasteland in others. Just the trip itself was an experience like few others. The fact we were a convoy of several cars stopping together several times along the way made

Leaving in the morning. These lovely folks were in one of the cars that traveled together.
Kadash and Fatush.
They have two of the cutest children

Fatush mother is in the background,  She is Semmas aunt
A stop along the way for breakfast,  Many beautiful stop spóts along the hightway.  (4 lane divided most of the way) We stoped four times in the 10 hour drive,
Miles  of wheat fields along the way --- Harvest is  finished for this ýear.
We made a stop at a very interesting historical site along the way.  Today it  is called Pamukkale -- further back in its multi-thousand year history it was called Hierapolis. In the bible it is refered to a Laodicia.
Mireille and I in the famous Pamukalle white calcium pools.
The Pamukalle calcium pools. A unique phenonomon of nature.  Hotsprings water with high calcium content runs over a series of natural pools leaving them bright white
A little electric bus drove us to the site from the parking lot.
Some kind of gate to somewhere!! Picture taken from the little electric bus we were riding on,
Some forgotten kings luzury bath area in his castle.  A couple of thousand years ago. Very interesting construction,

We have forgotten the king but we remember his bath tub!!
Constant renovation and exploration  going on.
Restoration is an enormous job
A restoration of some fantastic old building
In the center of Gothenburg in Sweden  there is a statute of the God of the Sea Posidon,
This is a statute of his son found here,
An enormous amphitheater  -- that periods Foxnews!!  Room for 30 000 people.  Built during the Roman period ... over 2000 years ago. An amazing job of restoration
This is a sign to the site of the Saint Philip church, We didn't go up to it ... as it was a km or 2 up beyond the other sites ,, and the temp was 40 C ... and the sun was hot!
Philip was one of Jesus 12 apostles and was apparently killed here .. and buried on the location of this church along with his 2 sons.  The church at Laodacia (as the city was called then) is mentioned in the bible,  History here tells of Philips intensive work to bring Christianity to this part of the world then.

From the bible ... Perhaps refering to the water here,  It was written  to the church in Laodacia
"I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. 16 ‘So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth."
