This book is a wonderful insight into the mechanizms in the human heart that suceed in successfully and fully blocking the capacity for wisdom and moral judgment when organizational agendas demand first focus. The book convincingly uses this phenomenon to explain the autrocities commited by ordinary well meaning soldiers in Nazi Germany- It also explains the most of the major industrial 'accidents' in history where safety has been obviously seriously comprimsed by the 'blindness' of well meaning but 'loyal' employees' Moderna day military organizations sucessfully use this phenonomen to convince ordinary well meaning men to 'follow orders' and in this, use the cruelest and most extreme forms of lethal violence that exist. Actions that clearly defy every honorable moral principle of respect for our fellowman that exist ...simply on the basis of identifying men and women that would appear to at the time 'belong to the wrong organization' or wear the wrong uniforms. Radical religion is pretty much the king of willful blindness .. as membership can be completely and genuinely blind to the ultimate self-righteousness in the inbred doctrine that everyone in every other religious organization in the world is inferior before God to themselves. For instance, 2x2 membership can genuinely fail to see the utter nonsence in the 2x2 principle that worship is to take place in a specific type of building construction ... or God will reject it. This kind of thinking defys the basis of Christianity. There are hundreds of examples of this willful disregard/blindness for the obvious moral decay that has infected such groups – and this creates havoc on so many fronts. Turning a blind eye becomes a virtue .. and is regarded deceptivley as an ingredient in 'faith'
