At a Christmas dinner

Events

Week 3-5
Jan 12th -  31st

We had lots of plans for 2009 when the New Years fireworks hit the sky  -- but now a full month is gone, and how much closer are we to our goals?

We have all had colds and fever off and on the last part of the month - Mireille went back to work today after a few days sick leave, and hopefully all the kids will be back in school on Monday. Rebecka has one week left of her 4 week work experience in connection with this last year of her high school. Seeing she has specialized in the 'care industry' she was real pleased to get the chance to do these four weeks on the birth delivery ward of our cities hospital. -- Just a few more month until she is scheduled to graduate in the spring.

This last week has finalized most of the legal custody snarls for our new 13 year old -- meaning her official status in our home has changed from an acute placement to a more definate one. This takes much of the problems of uncertainty away for the moment at least. Another teenage placement has come and gone several times the last weeks --life isn't always as easy as it is cracked up to be!!

We are all getting ready for Mireilles 40th birthday the middle of the month (birthday is the 18th but the party is to be the 21st) -- We have invited over 70 of our friends, and we have decided to extend our party room (the former hardware department of our building) with a 70 sq meter ajoining room -- got the new floor layed last week. Now we hope we have room for all the guests.   We are all getting excited and trying to put together a suitable program.

Emma had her 26th birthday the 16th but we have postponed 'lighting the candles' as we have been under the weather here -- Hope to get down to see her this coming week.

Week 1-2
Dec 29th - Jan 11

It has been a while since I have documented our comings and going. The holiday season has been quite full but now things are getting back to normal again. Mireille had a week off her work at the year end -- and as usual had this time filled with 'little things' with the family. We had friends for a meal or an evening a few times -- folks that in the ordinary course of things had been 'put on hold' -- and then we were invited out to other folks a few times -- brave people to invite our circus into their homes!! Mireilles sister Nathalie spent a couple of weeks with us as well -- otherwise she lives in Northern Sweden (12 hours by train) -- she is the kids closest Swedish relative so quite special to them in this. Planing for her baby (due in May was an important subject in conversation!)

Becka spent a fair bit of time with her boy friend -- sometimes at his place and a good part of the time with him here at our place.  Ellen also has filled her holidays with her friends! Maria, Nona and Eleanore have had all kinds of projects on the go. Keeps us busy ´just cleaning up after them!!

Yesterday was my turn for visiting at a larger detention center for the justice system in a nearby city.  Sometimes we think things become chaotic in our household  -- but it can seem mild when a person gets the chance of a little chat with poor folks that are trying to pull the pieces together after their entire life situation has just 'hit the fan'.
