Events

I will try and dig into my memories to recount the most important things that seem to have happened during this period  -- As I am writing this the middle of September it is fun to scratch of the nicest memories of a couple of months ago .. and re-live them as I write this blog. July began with the very pleasant visit from my neice Annette Beach that came and spent a couple of days with us. We had a very nice time with her indeed.

The dominating event of July was of course our annual trip to Croation .. Our mini-bus was full with 9 people this year again although Rebecka and Niklas couldn't come with us because there were busy with new jobs. They took a few days off in July for a trip up to northern Sweden to visit Mireilles sister Nathalie that lives in Umeå exactly 1000 kms north of our home. Besides Mireille and I and four of our children Ellen had here friend Jennifer(17) with her, a neighbor boy Simon (17) came along, as well of course as Maria (14) that lives with us.

This was the 5th year for our holidays in Croatia-- the 4th in the same appartment in the same little village. The living quarters are simple but 20 meters from the beach, and a large balcony/deck where we eat and do a major part of our living while we are there. This year we planed our trip together with another Swedish family (the mother in the family works together with Mireille) and they had found an appartment just a half a block away from ours. It was fun having someone we knew to share our activities together -- and then two other Swedish families turned up at different times -- Lots of talking got done -- and many of the worlds problems got solved!!?? Especially nice was a Canadian visitor Mat Lonseth who was on his way home again after being at a wedding in Kosovo. He was a wonderful guest for a few days.

One of the highligts was a day excursion by speedboat to a closed down remote island resort from the Yogoslavia/Soviet period -- where we had the whole island to ourselves -- our hosts fixed our meals and we had the whole day to swim, play, and  laze and discover the island. Several 5 star hotels, sports facilities etc -- all closed down for 'political reasons'!!!

After 2 good weeks there we returned via Slovenia, Austria, Czek Republic, Germany, Denmark and back to good old Sweden!

Just after our return we had a real nice visit from Mireilles brother from Belgium -- They were just with us for a week but we got some good Swedish tourist things done in the week.

And then last but not least, it was wonderful to have mom and Helen here on a visit just in time for my 63rd birthday. One of things we did together was a trip to Emmas grandma.
