The Upphärad chapter of our lives with the begining of our
"Family home"

For us, the year 2001 was  one of enormous trauma  -- but it was also the begining of a  wonderful new chapter in our lives. A number of things happened that made a big change in our family. One of them was an accident that put me in the hospital for considerable time and then into a wheelchair for a number of months. To manage the lack of income for 6 months we sold our home in the country and used the proceeds to pay off our loans and buy an older abandoned country store for what was left of the money. This house gave us a very cheap place to live while we were 'licking our sores' -- and its size (over 1000 sq.meters heated area) opened up some very new oppurtunities for our family.

I downsized my computer business and we decided to become a family home for young people in different forms of social difficulty. Mireille was just in the process of finishing her adult schooling as a social worker -- and we started by taking in youth sentenced to jail, but whom had been offered the option of submitting to family home therapy. These were most often boys with all the different problems of drug abuse. After a couple of years we changed contract, and now take teenage placements from social services from a nearby city. Recently we have changed status again with social services and are regarded as an acute placement home for teenages. This means that these children will be with a shorter length the time .. but we will have a larger volume of guests in the course of a year. I recieve a full time wage for this service .. requiring me to be at home, while Mireille has a full time job at an Institution for troubled teenage girls that is near us.

During this time our own 5 children at home are busy growing up. Now (2008) Rebecka is 17, Ellen is 16, Alfons is 14, Eleanore is 11 and Nona is 8

The following are some of the folks that we have had the privelage of having live with us through our oppurtunity as 'family home'
