. . . . . . . .
Upphärad Sweden

This road behind me is now 70 years long .......

A few bumps and potholes along the way but some wonderful stretches too ...
A few tears and lots of laughter ..
Clouds and dark skys .. midday sun, warmth and Indian summer
Spring - summer - fall and winters
Somewhat the same as for many others

What is most significant today is where this road has led me
And I can't imagine a place on this planet that I would rather be

In this little village in western Sweden ..A village that has hosted all  that I intensly love most of all in this world.
The most amazing wife .. most wonderful children .. and a group of friends that are second to none .

A few reflections on what has been important on this journey
to the spot I call 'now'!

Dads example throughout much of his life:
Stand for the truth in your own heart .. even if you must stand alone. Don't sell your own principles to anyone,  however compeling their arguments of superior wisdom may be. Trust the inner moral voice within you,  the precious gift given to us all through creation.

My mothers advice:
Mom always taught us that in personal conflict, the optimal was to, in humility, do our best to resolve our difference, forgive, and then continue in harmony.

However as life has taught us, not all 'difference' is resolvable, . Mom was clear in her teaching that 'difference' should never be resolved at the expence of ones own integrity and moral principle.

A record my grandmother had in an old recordplayer
I remember sitting on the floor in her livingroom listening to this melody ... Grandma only had about 10 records .. this was one of them.

I would be true .. The original words to the tune Londonderry Air

I would be true for there are those that trust me
I would be pure for there are those that care
I would be strong for there is much to suffer
I would be brave for there is much to dare.

I'd love to do the perfect thing for everyone
but though I try to do the best I can
I do not know if it's that good a job I've done
'cause after all I'm just an ordinary man.

I would be friend of all the weak and friendless
I would be giving and forget the gift
I would be humble for I know my weakness
I would look up and laugh, love and live.

But if I fail I need someone to guide me
'cause though I try to do the best I can
I'm not a hero when no one's beside me
Forgive me, Lord, I'm just an ordinary man.

Beauty of the moment
May the beauty of the moment
Dispel the turmoil in my breast
Replacing thoughts that tend to torment
With a warmth that brings me rest.

Little things 'today' may offer
Have a message meant to teach
How to banish doubt and fever
Place fullfillment in my reach

May the good thoughts that are given me
Be the thoughts I choose to feed
May the peace that this may grant me
Warm another in their need
